What is AUN-QA?

In an effort to develop human resources via higher education in the Southeast Asian region, the ASEAN University Network (AUN) was founded in 1995. Until now, there are 27 member universities from 10 ASEAN nations. To promote the growth of a quality assurance work and enhancement of the overall academic standards of AUN member universities, AUN came up with an initiative to set up a common quality assurance system for the ASEAN called AUN-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA). It is a way to build up the trust on teaching and training quality among member universities as well as with partner universities worldwide. The AUN-QA is part of a bigger plan to reach a stage of mutual recognition of training quality and qualifications, and enhance collaboration among universities in the Southeast Asian region.

AUN-QA Standards and Criteria Package has có 18 criterion benchmarks. Each criterion is assessed on seven-point rating scale: 1 = Nothing (no documents, no plans, no evidence); 2 = this subject is in the planning stage; 3= documents available, but no clear evidence that they are used; 4= documents available and evidence that they are used; 5 = clear evidence on the efficiency of the aspect; 6 = example of best practices; 7 = excellent (world-class or leading practices). 4.0 is the passing rate for meeting the requirements of AUN-QA.
