USSH President Participated in an International Conference in Japan

From 4th to 6th of August 2017, USSH President visited and worked with the Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Administration on top of attending “One Asia Foundation” International Workshop in Japan.

On 4th August, Prof. Vo Van Sen worked with representatives from Nagoya University of Commerce and Business Administration (NUCBA).


According to University rankings conducted by Asahi Shimbun Co. in 2009, NUCBA was ranked 32nd among 737 universities in Japan. In global cooperation, NUCBA provides great opportunities through their student and lecturer exchange programs, scientific-researches, academic projects as well as accredited training courses, etc. Following agreement in cooperation between the two universities from 1997 - 2010, lecturers from USSH VNU-HCM joined teaching and training programs at NUCBA.


On the occasion of attending “One Asia Convention Nagoya”, Prof. Vo Van Sen also visited and worked with NUCBA. The working session with NUCBA focused on the opportunity for re-signing the Memorandum of Agreement to extend cooperation schemes between the two universities. Following that, anMoA is expected to be signed in the near future.


On 5th and 6thAugust, Assoc. Prof. Vo Van Sen attended “One Asia Convention Nagoya 2017” at Nagoya Kanko Hotel, Japan. The convention was sponsored by One Asia Foundation in cooperation with Aichi University.

One Asia Convention is an annual activity hosted by One Asia Foundation – a non-governmental organization with a mission to contribute to the establishment of an Asian Community through education. Earlier in 2017, the organization’s Board of Management proposed “Toward the Asian Community: Peace” as the theme for this year’s convention.


The USSH VNU-HCM began to take part in various activities of One Asia Foundation for the first time on 2013 BangdumOne Asia Convention. With support from the organization, the USSH Faculty of Oriental Studies hassince opened courses on “Introduction to New Asian Community, taught by well-known professors and scholars in the fields of economics, cultures, education, and linguistics, etc. This subject will provide students with broader and profound knowledge about global movements as well as contribute to building a friendly – peaceful Asian Community. Until now, Faculty of Oriental Studies has held 4 annual classes on this subject.

As of April, 2017 there were 264 universities from 32 countries and territories having run classes on Asian Community sponsored by One Asia Foundation with participation of more than 600 experts, scholars and students.
