The USSH President Welcomes the Newly-Appointed U.S. Consul General Mary Tarnowka

On October 14th 2016, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen, the USSH President, welcomed the U.S Consul General Mary Tarnowka to visit the university with her colleagues including Mr. David C. Turnbull, the Cultural Attaché and Ms. Quach Thi My Ngoc, the senior education consultant of the U.S. Consulate General to HCMC.

On his opening remarks, Prof. Dr. Vo Van Sen greeted the U.S. Consul General Mary Tarnowka on her new job. The President also expressed his appreciation for close cooperation between the U.S. Consulate General and the University and hoped to boost the collaboration between the two institutions as part of a bigger deepening relationship between Vietnam and the U.S. 


Consul General Tarnowka and President Vo Van Sen briefed several cultural and academic exchange activities, students and lecturers exchange programs, short-term and long-term Vietnamese language, and volunteer instructors between the two institutions. During the talk, Consul General Tarnowka expressed her enthusiasm to strengthen and foster relationships between the USSH and the U.S. Consulate in HCMC, as well as between the USSH and other U.S. colleges and universities by further diversifying and expanding collaboration programs.

During the visit, Consul General Tarnowka had a short talk with Faculty of International Relations students in class with Prof. Dr. Tran Nam Tien. Ms. Consul General had fun exchanges with students on Vietnam-U.S. relations, achievements and challenges, and some approaches to enhance people-to-people relations between the two countries.
